Film Poster - My Design

Before creating a major film poster to advertise our short film, we must all first come up with initial designs, and merge our ideas together to create a successful poster. Here is the design which I created.

MAIN IMAGE:
The background of the image was initially a clear wall, which enabled the main character to stand out from the image, as her silhouette is shadowed. However, white wasn't a suitable colour to use on the film poster as it didn't connote the genre thriller, and therefore after finding the image,I used the effect "duo tone", in order to create a misty, mysterious effect, creating a green and yellow effect. I believe these colours connote our film better, but also enable the poster to stand out more.
The capture of the girl positioned in the centre of the poster, gives an eerie effect, as lights are used below her, to shadow the rest of her body. This suggests that she is hiding something, and adds a mystery element to the post. Furthermore, her stance suggests that she is reaching out for something, perhaps reaching for help. The way on which the lights are facing towards the ceiling, enable the girl to be perceived as almost angelic, suggesting that she is an innocent character. She is also the focus point of the poster, which tells the audience that the narrative of the film is revolved around her, giving them a brief insight into the film.

TEXT
I decided to use quite a vibrant, mismatched text font, as it both stands out from the main image, but it also connotes youth culture - almost like graffiti. This represents the film as it is based around teenagers, as is aimed towards the teenage audience. The crooked text also connotes the genre, as the colour red suggests danger, and anger which are both emotions featured in the film. The tag line which is also included at the top of the poster stands out to the audience, as it is a vibrant colour, placed on top of quite a dull colour. Furthermore, the tag line enables the audience to be given a small amount of information about the films narrative, and "be careful what you wish for", is catchy, and enables the audience to be curious about what happens in the film. As it is written in red, with a crooked font, it almost gives the effect that it has been written in blood. This stands out in itself, and further connotes the genre thriller.

OTHER FEATURES
Film Four logo - shows who the film is distributed by
15 Certification - form our research we decided that it would be 15, due
to the moderate violence portrayed in the film, and it is primitive that
we feature the certification on the film poster
Film details: producer, actors, and production company.
