Shadow Design
Initially, I designed this slide show as pat of the blogs decoration. As the film "Shadow" is a mystery thriller and consists of a dominant female protagonist, the images on the slide show connote a lost, lonely female in the shadows. This relates to the films title, as it denotes the narrative and action within the entirety.
After researching images of lonely shadowed girls, I have decided to professionally photograph the protagonist of the film, in order to create an expressive and captivating poster, to promote the film, which would attract a wide range of audience members.
I will create the effect of a shadowed girl, using a tungsten light positioned at the back of the character's head, in order to shadow her face, and hide her expressions. Another way in which the protagonist could be photographed is behind a white cyclorama, with a white flood light behind the screen, but with the main interior lights switched off, which would give the effect of a black shadow, denoting the films mystery thriller genre.
In contrast to this the last effect that could be used, is the effect of a white flood light with barn doors positioned in front of the character, who is stood in front of the cyclorama, as a pose to behind it, with all the interior lights switched off which would create the image of a female character in total darkness, but with the silhouette shining around the area of her.
My personal preference from the suggested shadowed effects, is the last one, creating her silhouette, as this not only connotes mystery but further enhances the audience's curiosity of the female protagonist, enabling the film to attract a variety of viewers.
